Visitors

Yesterday (Monday) our dear friend Mary  Anderson-Nissen and her two children, Erica and Mark, were all in Boulder! Mary lives in Bennington, VT, Erica lives in South Africa, and Mark in Denver! So this was an unusual occurance. The timing was such that we had just an hour or so when I could meet them in Boulder before they went to have dinner with friends. Ellen had to stay with Betsey and there wasn't time for them to come all the way out to the house. So I met them at our favorite spot, Alfalfa 's Cafe. We had a lovely visit: I caught them up on Betsey, and they caught me up on their doings. It was wonderful to see them and so amazing that it took place here! John Nissen, my friend going back 45 years to Lawrence University, was husband and father to these folks. John died of cancer a year and a half ago in Bennington and Ellen and I spent many hours at his bedside at that time. So this is a special relationship. Mark is entering a program in Physical Therapy on the same campus where Betsey's surgery will take place tomorrow. Another little link.

Outside the store we saw a sight I had never seen before - a Chevrolet Volt at a free (!) charging station run by the store. Could this be the wave of the future?
