Trip to Denver Internatonal Airport

DAYS THIRTY-FOUR AND THIRTY-FIVE (July 26 & 27): Yesterday we drove from Alpine to Denver - about 500 miles. We made a stop in Pinedale for rest rooms and snacks and Ellen & Mimi found a sale rack of clothes for girls outside the store and Mimi got a cute light-weight hooded top and a stunning dress at rock bottom prices. Much of the drive was on I-80 and I-25 (Rock Springs WY to Cheyenne and Cheyenne to Denver) but the miles flew by because we were all listening to an audio book of The Life of Pi. It pretty much filled the entire trip! We arrived at the La Quinta Inn near DIA at about 6pm and took a walk in the "motel city" that we were in - maybe 8 huge chain motels clustered in a business park a few minutes from the airport. We had supper at Ruby Tuesdays next door to the motel - great salad bar and an interesting menu. We got up this morning (Sat) at 6:30am, got packed up and down for the motel breakfast - which included waffles and hard boiled eggs, always welcome items  - and then Ellen and Mimi took the 7:30 shuttle to the airport. Ellen will accompany Mimi past security to the Southwest gate and hand her over to a flight attendant, wait until the place departs (a 9:15am flight) and then come back to the motel. Since I wouldn't have been able to go past security at the airport (only one adult can accompany Mimi) I decided to stay here at the motel. Since I slept very poorly last night, I hope to catch a few winks. Then when Ellen gets back we'll drive the 9-10 hours back to Alpine.
