Today was a special day in Alpine for us and for the town. First of all, it was a beautiful, bright, sunny winter day. Cold but enjoyable because there was no wind and the sun was so bright. I slept very late - after noon, actually - because i had slept so little during the night. But once I got up and got going, it was a full day. While I was getting breakfast (or should I say lunch?) and cleaning up the kitchen, Ellen went to the store, but when she came back, we went for a walk together back at Trail Ridge where Paul's former house is, walking up the hill the way I did alone a couple of days ago. We actually got really warm walking up hill, even though it was in the 20s temp-wise. Then we went to the new house to pick up Max, and I went in to see the new sheet-rock work and the "boy-cave" Paul was building in Max's room. Then we went by KJ's (the store up at the corner) for ice cream cones, and then came back to the condo. I charged up the phone a bit and went back alone to Alpine for Alpine Jubilee Days, a winter festival. They were serving free hot dogs and chile at the town gazebo, so I started there, and then walked around taking pictures of ice sculptures which are part of the weekend. Meanwhile, Paul and Jenny had met at Melvin's, the local brewpub, for a bit of TGIF. I came back to the condo where Ellen & Max were having a bite to eat and watching an old western,
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (with Clint Eastwood and Eli Wallach), so I joined them for a bite and a watch. They don't make movies like that anymore. P&J came back and had a bite to eat too, and now they are upstairs watching TV, Max and Ellen are watching the original
Star Wars movie downstairs, and I'm blogging in the bedroom.

Once again, a beautiful view from the hill |

This is Max's room. Paul is building this "cave" for Max - his bed will
be on top and underneath will be a comfy little area where there will be
a lamp, a beanbag chair, some shelves - a place to retreat to and read,
listen to music, etc. | |

This is one end of the room across from Max's room upstairs - the "yoga" room, which will also serve as a guest room with a fold-up Murphy bed, like at Jim & Mary's house. |

Looking down the street from in front of the new house - this shot is a 90 degree turn from the one above it. The two houses on the left are also under construction |

I think this is meant to be a box of popcorn - at the Yankee Doodle Cafe |
