Fourth of July

We really had a nice Fourth of July. The morning was pretty quiet - Jenny went to work a half-day, Paul stayed home, I slept late, the got up and had a nice breakfast while we watched an old Mr. Robert's neighborhood show on the TV - Max loves Mr. Roberts! Ellen fixed a nice lunch and I cleaned up. Then in the afternoon, we - Ellen, Max and I - walked into Alpine village from the condo,  about a mile walk one way. It was a beautiful day, cool and sunny (unlike back home where they are suffering a terrible wave of heat and humidity that has lasted several days). It was a lovely walk through a field, over a bridge (the Snake River), and into the main part of town, near Broulim's Market where we shop for groceries. Paul and Jenny joined us there. It was a small-town parade - mostly fire engines, trucks, a few quasi-floats on the back of trucks, some horses, no bands, lots of candy being thrown out to kids who collected it by the bagful.  We watched it from a shady spot, and a couple offered me a camp chair which I gladly accepted.

After the parade, Paul, Jenny and Max went to the home of friends and Ellen and I went to the market and got stuff for our supper; we carried four bags of groceries the mile back to the condo.

Going back to the condos - they can be seen in the distance to the left of the RV
We had a very nice Fourth supper of grilled cheeseburgers and Cole slaw,  and apple pie a la mode for dessert. A family two doors down has three kids, with a boy Max's age, which he had not really met and they all came over and Max got acquainted, Paul helped break the ice a bit, got out Max's bike, and the kids brought over their guinea pig, Scarlett, and they all played quite nicely all through and after supper. I didn't get any pictures of them but I will. I cleaned up after our supper, did some things on the computer, and then we walked out to the edge of the condo units to the field and had a totally spectacular view of fireworks all over the place, including the town display right in front of us.

Happy Fourth!

A nice day!
