A little walk with some wildflowers

Today, Saturday, Jenny, Paul and Max all went to the Targhee music festival. They left late morning after we had watched the consolation game in the World Cup between England and Belgium, which Belgium won, 2-0. The championship game will be between Croatia and France. This left Ellen and myself with a day by ourselves. So we decided to take a little hike up into the National Forest area which is just across the highway from the condos. We drove up a road a way, parked, and then walked along sort of a jeep road into an open meadow surrounded by mountains. After a bit we found a log in the shade (it was hot and sunny), drank something, listened to the quiet and headed back, a bit over two miles r.t. Not a long walk but a nice one. All along the way we saw common wildflowers. It is late in the season, so not the best time for wildflowers. But they were lovely just the same. Here are some:

       Sticky Gerenium

          Harebell

          Lupine

       Sunflower

         Paintbrush

. .  . and most common, yarrow, which up close has a beauty all its own.

Here's where we walked:

      National Forest lands.

     Looking out from our log.

Ellen picked a bouquet of wildflowers that we took back to the condo.

When we got back, we rested, ate a bite, and got ready for our next adventure.
