Strolling of the Heiffers

On Saturday, June 8th, Brattleboro staged it's largest parade of the year - the Strolling of the Heiffers - which celebrates local agriculture, localvore food, green values. Hundreds of animals are in the parade along with people, floats, bands, organizations of all kinds. It was a beautiful day for the parade  - though the day started with pouring rain. By parade time it was sunny and cool. Following the parade there was a gathering on the commons with scores of booths for eats and displays. Lots of fun. We had Miriam and Tamar that weekend so we took it all in. After the commons we went to the nearby Brattleboro Retreat Petting Farm. Here are some photos from the day:

The alpacas were a big hit

Where there are animals parading, there must be scoopers!

A bit of farm humor!
