At church in Waldoboro, ME

Sunday morning, Ellen and I met Phil and Deborah for the service at the U. C. C. Church in Waldoboro, about a half-hour drive from Owl's Head. We felt very much "at home." It is very like the Guilford Church. The theme of the service was "being blessed and being a blessing to others," with the story of Jacob being the biblical centerpiece.

The church building has some very nice features: e.g., an historic Hook and Hastings organ, and a lighthouse chandelier. However this morning the music was supplied by a husband-wife team - she sang and played guitar and he accompanied hymns on a recorder.

Deborah and Phil return to Claremont, CA in ten days. Today Ellen and I return home. Last evening we were joined for supper by Tim Cooke (of "cyclotiller" fame), his wife, Carmine, son Daniel, and his wife's niece from Chile, who had all been at the fair and were heading back to Dorchester, MA.
